The National Hamburger Festival was started by Drew Cerza from Just Wing It Productions based in New York City. Cerza has been behind a number of successful events in the country, such as the National Chicken Wing Festival and the Road to Buffalo Tour.
Every year, thousands of hamburger fans and restaurants gather for a day filled with fun and activities to raise money for the Akron’s Children Hospital. Now, the fact that it helps sick children should be reason enough to go out and participate in the event, but the organizers have made the activities extra special to sweeten the deal. Since this is a hamburger festival, guests can partake from what was dubbed as one of the “largest assortments of hamburgers” in one place. Participants can also enjoy the live music from different artists daily plus there are other activities that will suit one’s taste, like dance contests and cook-offs.
Speaking of cook-offs, this is one great opportunity for participating restaurants to enter their juicy and tasty burgers into the Restaurant Burger Cook-off. There are four categories for this contest: Traditional Burger, Traditional Cheeseburger, Creative Burger and Creative Sauce Topping. Aside from the prizes the winning restaurant receives, they have the honor of holding the title as one of the champions of the Restaurant Burger Cook-off from the National Hamburger Festival and if that won’t work as one smoking ad for your burger restaurant, then we don’t know what will!
The National Hamburger Festival 2014 will be held at Lock 3 Park in downtown Akron on the 9th and 10th of August. Festival tickets are sold at the Lock 3 gate on both days and costs around $5 per day. If you’re a hamburger fan, then this is definitely one of the activities you shouldn’t ever miss.
