If you’re a fan of America’s Favorite Pastime, then Canal Park Stadium should be at the top of your list when you visit Akron, Ohio – especially during baseball season.
Located in Akron, Canal Park Stadium is a baseball stadium that serves as home to the Akron Aeros of the Eastern League. This $31-million baseball field was designed by Hellmuth, Obata & Kassabaum, Inc., an architectural firm responsible for designing other baseball stadiums like Progressive Field in Cleveland and Oriole Park in Baltimore.
Canal Park Stadium opened in 1997 and has hosted countless games during baseball season. Its name was taken from its location, which is adjacent to the Ohio and Erie Canal. While the ballpark does not have as many visitors as other baseball stadiums all over the country, they still expect more than 5,000 fans to show up in every game. Like most ballparks, the stadium is equipped with food and beverage stands to cater to the hungry fans while they’re enjoying the game. The location is also ideal for those who want to do other activities within the city as it is in close proximity to restaurants, bars, theaters and live performance centers.
If you happen to have your kids along with you and they cannot appreciate the wonders of baseball yet, Canal Park Stadium has a children’s area where they can play and be entertained. They are equipped with giants slide and dunk dank stations for active children. For your little artists, there is also a coloring station right before you enter the park where kids can improve their craft.
